GA Coach Spotlight: Coach Tracy

Coach Tracy joined the GA staff in 2018 as the Powerlifting and Nutrition Coach. Tracy is not only a Certified USPA Coach and referee but she is also Precision Nutrition L1 certified and ISSA Specialist in Fitness Nutrition certified.

She started lifting competitively in 2014 after transitioning over from CrossFit. She competed in multiple powerlifting meets across 2 weight classes, including USPA National Powerlifting Championship, the USPA Drug-tested National Powerlifting Championship and the IPL World Powerlifting Championship. She currently holds USPA Alabama State records in squat, bench, deadlift and total for the 148# weight class. USPA Alabama State records in the squat, bench, deadlift and total in the 165# weight class and IPL Drug-Tested World Record in the deadlift for the 148# weight class.

Along with her own impressive achievements she has coached many athletes to set their own State and World records. And whether she’s coaching one of her athletes through a lift or she is helping a member get their nutrition on track, she has a way of making them dig deep and realize their full potential. Her commitment to the success and care of her athletes is unmatched.

We asked her a few questions so we can get to know a little more about her.

1) What is an interesting fact most people don’t know about you?

I hate all green vegetables and all things considered a condiment (except bbq sauce). My family only loves me for my mad cookie baking skills. I can’t math unless you put $ signs in front of the numbers.

2) Why do you love coaching?

I enjoy having the opportunity to share something I am passionate about.  I like helping athletes not only obtain their goals but achieve more than they thought possible.  I don’t let my athletes underestimate themselves.  We are all stronger than we know.

3) What is your favorite workout or movement in the gym?

Of course, being a powerlifter, I love the squat, bench and the deadlift.  Of the 3, the bench press is most definitely my favorite movement.  It’s technically challenging, requires extra attention for progression and incorporates your whole body in one movement.
