GA Coach Spotlight: Coach Andy

Coach Andy Davis aka “Coach” joined the GA staff in 2018. If you ask around the gym you wouldn’t get an argument from anyone that Coach Andy is the heartbeat of Golden Ape. His preparation for class is unmatched. He’s encouraging, motivational, and makes it obvious he cares deeply about the success of every athlete. If you ever get the chance to come to one of his classes, take it. Golden Ape is lucky to have him!

We asked him a few questions so we can get to know a little more about him.

1) What is one interesting fact most people don’t know about you?

My Father, Harper Davis, along with his brother Art, played Professional Football in the NFL. Dad for the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers and Uncle Art for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both played football for Mississippi State University.

2) Why do you love coaching?

Being part of an athlete’s journey to be the best that they can be is exciting and rewarding. Providing the tools needed to help them reach their goals, along with being a motivator and an encourager to assist them in doing so is very satisfying to me as a coach.

3) What is your favorite workout or movement in the gym?

Deadlift; A very technical lift and when performed correctly, heavy and safe lifts are the results. As an athlete and especially an older athlete, posterior chain strength and stability becomes more and more crucial. To  me the deadlift is second to none in this regard.
